A look at the Lenten Programs at Saint John's (and a plea for help):
This Lent we are gong to try something a bit different.
- On Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday or Shrive Tuesday) we will not be selling Red Beans & Rice, rather we will gather as a church family and have a Mardi Gras Potluck dinner at 6:00pm (nursery provided). Everyone is encouraged to bring a Mardi Gras dish or something decadent or rich or fun (as we will be bidding farewell to Ordinary time and beginning our Lenten pilgrimage towards the Passion and Resurrection of of Our Lord). So please come out and join us.
- Next, our Lenten Thursday nights are going to be a bit different as well. The men's group will not be providing the main dish for the covered dish dinners every Thursday night in Lent...rather we are going to have soups and breads and salads...and we are asking that people, or groups of people sign up to provide the soup (enough for 35 folks) and salads...those who do not sign up are asked to bring a dish to compliment the soup and salad. So please, if you are willing and able, sign up on the black board in the hallway or call the church to sign up...this will not work without the participation of all, so please sign up.
- Also on Thursday nights after the dinner, those who wish can join in the walking of the Stations of the Cross and following that we will have Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
- And then on Sunday nights, we will gather at 5:30pm (no dinner but nursery provided) and read and discuss several of the Books of the Bible including I & II Peter, and the Pastoral Epistles.
I look forward to seeing you all very soon. God bless you all.
