Sermon- The Second Sunday after the Epiphany

By Fr. Jeff

"The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" (The Gospel According to Saint John I.xxix RSV) This morning we listen to St. John's version of the Baptism of Jesus. And some of you may be thinking... "didn't we, just last week, read of the Baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist?" Do not worry, you are not going crazy, if you were in Church last Sunday morning you did in fact, hear the story of Jesus' Baptism. Now you maybe asking, "why again?...the Bible is a pretty big book, couldn't they think of something else for us to read this morning?"

Sermon- The Feast of the Epiphany

By Fr. Jeff

"In the time of King Herod, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem..." (Matthew II.i NRSV) This morning we have a special treat. Today is the Feast of the Epiphany. And it is not every year that it falls on a Sunday...so for some, this might be the first time you have celebrated Epiphany in the Church. Epiphany, in many parts of the world is the most celebrated part of Christmastide...or rather, it is on the Epiphany, and not Christmas, that gifts are exchanged and the holiday is celebrated with vigor and richness and tradition. Its not that in many parts of the world Christmas is not important...its just that Epiphany is also that important.

Sermon- Christmas I 2007

By Fr. Jeff

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made..." (The Gospel According to Saint John I.i-3 ESV) Christmas Day traditionally has had three masses associated with its proper celebration. The first, what we know as the "Midnight mass" was associated with the birth of Jesus- the gospel readings focused on the birth of Jesus.

Sermon- Advent IV 2007

By Fr. Jeff

Last year on this Sunday at spoke at length of the Annunciation to Mary...of how she was obedient to the will of God...of how she gave herself as an offering and oblation to God...of how she agreed to bear God into this world. And there is a tremendous amount to say about that. The Blessed Virgin Mary holds a very high, special and honoured place in our tradition. There is always something to say about the life of the Virgin Mary that can change our lives for the better.
